Life at General Mills

Managing motherhood

This is the weekend to celebrate mom. So, in recognition of Mother’s Day, we caught up with one working woman at General Mills who is enjoying motherhood to the max.

Maria Chapellin, an associate marketing manager for Chex in Minneapolis, balances her dual roles with help from the Infant Care Center located a short walk from her desk – as you see in this video interview with Maria.

The Infant Care Center at our headquarters has been a popular perk with employees since it opened in 2000. Early learning professionals in the center are committed to partnering with parents in order to meet children’s needs.

The center, operated by the Children’s Home Society & Family Services, accepts up to 60 babies at any one time from ages six weeks to 16 months.

It’s so popular that the staff jokes that women sometimes call them first when they find out they are pregnant, before they call their husbands, so they can get on the waiting list.
