A fast response during chaos

Before he was a marketing director for Häagen-Dazs Japan, Bela Schweiger was a soccer goalkeeper.

Unrelated skills, you might think … but not on one terrifying day in March.

When the devastating earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, Bela calmly led his team through the disaster. He bought supplies, coordinated travel for pregnant colleagues and turned his apartment into a temporary hotel.

After the worst of the aftermath had passed, Bela said his “net was empty.”

The earthquake hadn’t defeated them.

And that meant he, and his colleagues, had won.
