Bake-Off apron fashion designer

The aprons worn by the finalists in today’s 45th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest were not just any apron. They were created by a designer who once competed on “Project Runway” and were approved in an online vote.

Tonight at the contest’s Celebration Dinner at the Peabody Orlando Hotel, Althea Harper was on hand to sign her special apron creation for the finalists and guests.

Three apron designs, (left to right, below) from Harper and fellow Project Runway alums Kara Janx and Carol Hannah Whitfield, were part of the Bake-Off’s “Runway Challenge” last October.

Harper was the Project Runway: Season Six runner up. Her apron design, inspired by her fall 2011 collection of digitally printed clothing, won a vote by Pillsbury Facebook fans. The apron designed by Janx (middle, above) was a close second in the competition.

Harper manages her own fashion line, ALTHEA HARPER. She has worked with such fashion luminaries as Anna Sui, Zac Posen, Alexander McQueen, and Vivienne Westwood.
