We begin this week with an article in Packaging World that featured Gregg Stedronsky, our vice president of engineering, global safety and environment. “Brave new world indeed” provided insight from Gregg about our global approach to business and packaging.

Speaking of packaging, Greener Package posted an article titled “Cheerios’ new club-store package provides source reduction, consumer satisfaction.”

Mike Davis, senior vice president of Global Human Resources, was quoted in The Winona Post’s “Education summit at SE Tech: need to move into 21st century.”

We blogged yesterday about the SOAR award presented to General Mills by the Women’s Foodservice Forum. Nation’s Restaurant News recapped the WFF’s event in a post titled “WFF conference aims to build future leaders.”

A soon-to-be summer intern at General Mills wrote about the internship process in “MBA Journal: How I Found My Internship,” in Bloomberg.

Volunteers from General Mills figured into a story in the Great Falls Tribune titled “Volunteers clean up parks during United Way event.”

And, “San Leon gets $10K from Box Tops” in The Daily News in Galveston, Tex., provided details on San Leon Elementary’s $10,000 win in a Box Tops for Education sweepstakes.

Target is expanding its selection of food in 90 U.S. stores. Progressive Grocer, in “Remodeled Targets to Feature More Fresh Food,” says expansion is scheduled to be completed in late June. Nearly 1,000 Target stores currently offer an expanded food layout, says the report.

“Publix tests coupon clicking” in The Tampa Tribune explains how Publix is testing a new discount initiative for grocery shoppers. The digital, paperless coupons could be redeemed at the register the same way other chains use membership cards. Customers would go online to choose and digitally “clip” coupons.

Expect more foods developed for people with food allergies and intolerances. “Market for food allergy and intolerance products set to hit $26.5bn in five years, says GIA,” in Food Navigator, features insight from Global Industry Analysts.

And, Bruce Horovitz of USA Today says “Foodies enjoy different tastes than the rest of us.” He shares research from Culinary Visions Panel about what flavor characteristics are preferred above all others.
