Canadian consumers can find us at Target
If you’re in Ontario, Canada, you now have some new stores to find your favorite General Mills products in.
We’re sharing in Target’s excitement over the chain’s official long-awaited arrival in Canada.
Over the last month, Target opened its first 24 stores in Canadian cities – all in Ontario so far. It plans to open a total of 124 stores across Canada throughout the rest of 2013.
Target has had a series of events recently to celebrate the openings, including this one in Toronto on March 27 that involved actresses Sarah Jessica Parker, Blake Lively and Elisha Cuthbert.
To get ready for Target’s Canadian launch, teams from a variety of roles at General Mills Canada (Sales, Category Management, Marketing, Promotions, Finance and Customer Service) have been working hard over the last year to prepare to have many of our products in the grocery aisles at the new Target stores.
It certainly doesn’t happen overnight, as Richard Polo, sales director, told me.
“It’s definitely exciting to see Target open up in several communities where we know we have loyal consumers,” says Richard. “It’s been a busy time for us, but we were ready for the launch. We spent the last year or so working with Target and planning everything from what we will sell in their stores, to how we will get the products into them. It’s been a lot of work, but fun too.”

Target’s expansion into Canada extends the company beyond the U.S. for the first time.
Target is one of General Mills’ largest customers in the U.S., with almost 1,800 stores. And its corporate headquarters is located not far from us, in downtown Minneapolis.
Best of luck to our new friends at Target Canada!
