The KiX Creativity Lab

Celebrating the notion that creativity is alive and well in kids, the KiX cereal team held a fun “Maker Faire” event for about 100 children of employees at our headquarters last Friday.

The KiX Creativity Lab featured a variety of activities and crafts designed to jump-start the imagination of the children who took part.

It was sort of a dry run for some of the things that the team planned for the program, which could also appear when KiX takes the Creativity Lab on the road to participate in events across the U.S. (The KiX team will be at the World Maker Faire in New York in September, in partnership with MAKE magazine).

Creativity is the backbone of how KiX has been interacting with consumers this year, posting activities on the KiX websiteFacebook, PinterestYouTube and Google+, in particular.

For you makers out there, take note – highlights and how-to demonstrations from Friday’s event will soon appear on the KiX social platforms.

“We see the maker movement as a big trend with kids and parents,” says Eric Dwinell, digital innovation manager at General Mills. “KiX has always been about empowering children, with a cereal that has a great health profile and a taste kids love. Looking at trends today, in terms of activities and the arts, we are producing content that we hope stimulates creativity and continues that mission of empowering kids.”
