I had a great time doing a Twitter Chat earlier tonight in Las Vegas with Christina Verrelli, the Grand Prize winner of the 45th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest in 2012.

We met up in the press room at the Aria Resort & Casino Convention Center for the 46th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest, which takes place tomorrow morning.

I threw a few questions at Verrelli first and then let participants in the chat take it from there.

I started by asking her how her big win in Orlando last year has changed her life.

“Life has been very busy and exciting!” Verrelli said. “I have gotten to meet so many great people!”

She’s also blogging now, at Epicuricloud.com. “I love to share my recipes and hear back when someone makes them! It is a great creative outlet!”

@Losanno asked Verrelli who she credits as her mentor or inspiration. She replied, “I watched a lot of cooking shows over the years, even before the Food Network. I love perusing cookbooks too.”

As for the 46th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest, the pressure is off Verrelli, though she’ll lead the Grand March by the finalists into the ballroom. “I hope I don’t trip!” she joked.

And if you’re thinking about entering the next contest, Verrelli offered this advice: “Think about current food trends and your family favorites. Can you combine the two into something new?”

Verrelli’s Pumpkin Ravioli with Salted Caramel Whipped Cream was certainly a good example of that.

After our chat, I did a quick video interview with Verrelli and I asked her about the significance of the Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest.
