And the winners of The Munchies are…
The people have spoken and their votes were delicious. Tablespoon.com and Andrew Zimmern, chef and TV personality, today announced the winners of The Munchies: People’s Choice Food Awards.
The list of nominees was developed by Zimmern and a panel of 40 celebrity food experts. And after more than a month of public voting across categories like Best Food Magazine, Best Food City and Best Burger, the tasty tally is in.
“It’s been exciting to ignite a passionate food debate and encourage people to support their favorite restaurants, media and chefs by voting,” Zimmern said. “These awards are a celebration of the best food experiences across America, and we all congratulate each of the winners.”
While New York took the award for Best Food City, establishments across the country also took top prizes.
On the west coast, Voodoo Doughnut in Portland, Ore., won for Best Donut and San Francisco’s La Taqueria won for Best Taco.
Representing the Midwest, The Publican in Chicago won Best Brunch Spot and Izzy’s in St. Paul, Minn., took the prize for Best Ice Cream.
New York City dominated the east coast with Roberta’s sweeping the Best Pizza Category and Shake Shack winning Best Burger, but Dogfish Head in Milton, Del., won Best Craft Brewery and ably represented the east coast.
Other notable winners include Amy Thielen’s “The New Midwestern Table” for Best New Cookbook, April Bloomfield for Best Chef, and Eater for Best Food Blog or Site.
