A new way to help women battling breast cancer
I am strong, I am not alone.
This month, Yoplait wants women battling breast cancer to know we’re “Friends in the Fight.”
That’s the new name for Yoplait’s long-running “Save Lids to Save Lives” program. The change was made to pay tribute to everyone impacted by breast cancer, including caregivers and family members who comfort those in treatment or remission.
And, instead of asking you to mail in yogurt cup lids, Friends in the Fight has put codes on select pink Yoplait lids.
Those codes can be entered online at FriendsInTheFight.Yoplait.com, where you also can now direct the 10 cent donation from that lid to your choice of three charities.
“We’re always exploring ways to expand our impact on the fight against breast cancer,” says Erica Jensen, senior integrated marketing manager for Yoplait. “By extending support to these new organizations, we are able to provide additional resources for women and communities suffering from this cancer while still helping at the local level through our partnership with Susan G. Komen.”
General Mills’ commitment to breast cancer started more than 15 years ago when an employee at a Yoplait plant lost a family member to cancer and helped organize the plant’s support for a local cancer race.
In the fall of 1998, Save Lids to Save Lives was created and grew into an iconic program that shaped the face of cause marketing and made a lasting impact with more than $35 million donated.
In honor of friends and family members, and with passion for the work still needed, Yoplait has started the new Friends in the Fight program.
Here are the organizations you can support through Friends in the Fight:
Susan G. Komen
Funding more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit while providing real-time help to those facing the disease through screening, education, treatment and support programs.
An organization built to connect people with trusted breast cancer information and a community of support.
On a mission to save women’s lives from breast and ovarian cancer by empowering them to live proactively at a young age.
All codes on pink Yoplait lids must be entered online by March 31, 2015.
