#TBT – Twinkles
Today, we’re throwing back to Twinkles — the first cereal to carry the Big G logo (beginning in 1960) and the first — and we believe only — cereal to feature a platypus (in 1961).
The star-shaped cereal made from toasted oats and corn featured Twinkles, the “amazing little elephant,” his inventor buddy Fulton the camel and their mischievous friend Wilbur the monkey in cute adventures on each box. The group even recorded and released a Little Golden Record in 1961!
Unfortunately, Twinkles didn’t last long, but the Big G on your favorite cereals sure did.
