Minions at General Mills
They’re yellow, they speak gibberish, they rock jean overalls better than anyone else, and when they took over our headquarters yesterday they caused the cutest commotion ever!
Seeing Minions on General Mills product packages is exciting enough, but seeing Bob, Stuart and Kevin at work is even better.
The cylindrical cartoon characters stopped by to snap pictures with employees, and their family members, and remind us about the Minions movie that debuts in theaters tomorrow.
“Who doesn’t love the Minions? We’re so excited about our partnership with Universal Pictures and the highly anticipated Minions movie, and to connect brands that people love with such a fun, all-family entertainment property,” says Lisa Kessel, marketing communication manager for Cereal. “We wanted to spread awareness with our coworkers and peers about our great partnership, but also saw this visit to our headquarters as a perfect opportunity to brighten everyone’s day with a visit from our Minion friends.”
Children and adults alike went bananas and couldn’t contain their excitement as they waited in line for their 15-second photo booth session with a beloved Minion.
Those not able to wait in the long line caught a glimpse as they walked past and snapped cell phone shots of their favorite character.
“Universal shared with us that 42 percent of their audience are adults with no kids, and the line that ran out the door for a picture with the Minions was a testament to how wildly popular these guys are among both kids and adults,” says Lisa. “We’ve had many celebrities visit General Mills in the past, but this is the first time we’ve had a Minion takeover and I think it is safe to say that it was a huge success!”
After the photos with employees, we walked with Kevin around the building, giving employees a chance to see a Minion in a familiar setting in our headquarters.
The Minions started their day greeting employees, who were given samples of our new products featuring the characters as they walked in.
Those products include a Minions cereal, and packaging for several of our most popular cereals that have six collectible and connectable figures tucked inside the box.
“These Minion buddies connect arms for added functionality, collectability and as a tie to the movie plot,” says Lisa.
The Minions also are featured on fruit snacks and Go-Gurt.
