Selfie Spoon helps cereal get social
You’ve heard of the selfie stick, a convenient way to take a better selfie when you’re out and about.
But what about when you’re eating cereal?
Our Cinnamon Toast Crunch team thought about that, well … at least for a little bit, and came up with something that’s getting quite a bit of attention.
Meet the Selfie Spoon.
“Selfies and selfie sticks have become such a big part of culture, we knew this would be an amusing way for Cinnamon Toast Crunch to join in the movement,” says Mark Chu, associate marketing manager. “It’s equal part ridiculous, awesome and strangely practical.”
“Our awesome fans love to share their obsession with our cereal on social media so we wanted to show a little love back,” says Achala Gopal, a senior marketing communications planner.
The Selfie Spoon, available to Cinnamon Toast Crunch fans for a limited time, extends up to 30 inches, has a remote and a spoon on one end, of course.
“This was nearly a six-month process of prototypes, adjustments and customization,” says James Dawson Hollis, executive creative director at McCann, who worked on the Selfie Spoon. “Once we settled on the design, we created an online hub where people can learn more about the product and place their order.”
That site is SelfieSpoon.com. Cinnamon Toast Crunch releases 100 spoons per day there (this past Monday, the spoon sold out in just two hours).
Get yours, free, while supplies last. Shipping and handling are not included.
By the way, the Selfie Spoon also is featured in a new Cinnamon Toast Crunch video “Milkface,” a music video loosely based on Kelis’ “My Milkshake,” created in partnership with star director duo Tim & Eric and Pretty Bird productions.
