Jennifer Nettles helps Outnumber Hunger
The launch of the 2016 Outnumber Hunger campaign marks the fifth year we’ve teamed up with Big Machine Label Group (BMLG) and Feeding America to help fight hunger in communities across the U.S.
Since 2011, the Outnumber Hunger initiative has helped Feeding America secure more than 40 million meals for Americans struggling with hunger.
Today, we’re pleased to announce that GRAMMY Award-winning country artist Jennifer Nettles is the spokesperson of this year’s campaign.
She talks about the 2016 Outnumber Hunger campaign, in this video.
In addition to using her voice to raise awareness about the hunger epidemic in America, this spring Nettles – along with other BMLG artists – will be featured on boxes of nearly 150 General Mills products that promote the campaign.
Now until the end of May, individuals who purchase specially-marked General Mills products and enter the code found on the packaging at OutnumberHunger.com can help Feeding America secure five meals on behalf of their local food bank, based on zip code entered.
“I think what excites me most about partnering with General Mills on this project of Outnumber Hunger is that it is community based, and it’s also easy,” said Nettles. “Feeding America will secure five meals at a local food bank for each code that is entered online through January 31, 2017. And that has to feel so good for people, because people obviously want to help and many times just don’t know how.”
Jay Picconatto, integrated shopper marketing director at General Mills, says he’s proud to be part of such an impactful initiative.
“General Mills has supported Feeding America for over 30 years because we feel a responsibility to help address the food insecurity issue. The Outnumber Hunger campaign is an easy way for consumers to support the one in seven Americans struggling with hunger,” says Jay. “Jennifer and all of the artists from Big Machine Label Group have been so powerful for this event – we are so proud that they can join us to do the right thing, and help our neighbors in need.”

Note: For every code entered by January 31, 2017, General Mills will donate 45 cents to Feeding America – enough to secure five meals on behalf of local food banks. Maximum total donation of $1,200,000. We have already donated $500,000. We will donate up to an additional $700,000 based on online code entry and other consumer actions.
