Winter 2017 new product showcase

As you turn the calendar to 2017, we’re unveiling our latest products making their debut around the world. A few times a year we like to give our readers an overview of how we are meeting your changing needs.

According to Jeanine Bassett, vice president of Global Consumer Insights, figuring out today’s shopper is not as straightforward as just asking what they want and handing it back to them.

I spoke with Jeanine about how we work to solve the puzzle of consumer food values. Hear Jeanine talk about how something as simple as a tomato now defines who we are, in this video.

Ninety-seven percent of U.S. households purchase at least one General Mills product at some point during the year, and about a third of our sales are now international. Our reach helps us rapidly move good ideas around the world.

And as we do this, we take steps to account for regional preferences.

For example, the secret to Old El Paso’s success has been its ability to customize its products to meet the unique local tastes of consumers, while still providing adventuresome flavor. So Old El Paso sells extra mild products in France, yet offers a twist on traditional rice crackers in Japan.

From gluten-free Very Berry Cheerios to Annie’s organic popcorn, to Yoplait Greek 100 with more protein to Nature Valley Granola cups, to great new flavors of Häagen-Dazs ice cream, General Mills has solid line up of new products:

Very Berry Cheerios

All the wholesome goodness of Cheerios plus the delicious taste of real fruit – strawberry, raspberry and blueberry – in every bite. Gluten free. No colors from artificial sources, no artificial flavors, no high fructose corn syrup.
