Challengers, are you ready? Fans compete against athletes in the first-ever “Fruit by the Foot Fridays” live, virtual tournament
For years, snack enthusiasts have competed in the Fruit by the Foot Challenge that works as follows:
Unroll the approximately three-foot long snack, race to see who can eat it as fast as they can with no hands, and post the video on social media.
With more time spent at home, live sports on hold and social content creation on the rise, we’ve seen Fruit by the Foot Challenge videos on social media increase nearly 20 times from February to March, with more every week.
In partnership with sports and entertainment digital media network, Whistle, we decided it was time to launch our first-ever live, virtual tournament, “Fruit by the Foot Fridays.”
“The “Fruit by the Foot Fridays” tournament was inspired by the recent response we’ve seen on social media from our consumers,” says Vanessa Santana, senior brand experience planner, Fruit by the Foot, General Mills. “We hope fans enjoy the friendly competition and the challenge helps elevate the fun online and at home during this unique time.”

Think you’ve got what it takes?
Post your “Fruit by the Foot Fridays” challenge video on Instagram, TikTok or Twitter using #FruitbytheFootFridays and #Sweepstakes by 11:59 p.m. EST on May 24.
Two participants will then be selected to face off against surprise professional basketball players in the live, virtual tournament on Friday, May 29, at 7 p.m. EST.
The snack-letes vs. athletes showdown will be hosted by social media personalities, Carlos “Famous Los” Sanford and Anthony “Spice” Adams, with finalists winning a year’s supply of Fruit by the Foot.
