A Nature Valley national park partnership worth singing about
Daveed Diggs is helping Nature Valley celebrate a big milestone in its effort to help restore access to 10,000 miles of trails in U.S. national parks.

Diggs’ remake of “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” by The Proclaimers helps Nature Valley and the National Park Foundation (NPF) mark the completion of a three-year, $3 million partnership that helped restore access to 10,000 miles of national park trails.
“When I first heard of this opportunity, I thought it was amazing that Nature Valley dedicated themselves to restoring access to 10,000 miles of national park trails,” says Diggs. “I’ve always enjoyed nature and have spent a lot of time hiking with my family and friends, so this collaboration was a great way for me to share my love of the outdoors and get people excited to hit the trails in 2021.”
The music from Diggs and his band (clipping.) encourages you to go outdoors, visit a park near you and explore.
“We’re at a point in time where people are spending a lot of time inside their homes, but they also need some encouragement to get outside in nature,” says Kaylee Pohlmeyer, manager, Brand Experience, Nature Valley. “Daveed’s song is the perfect anthem to get us refreshed by spending time outdoors and promoting safe visits to national parks or even the park down the street.”
“Particularly at this moment, national parks are a great way to get outside and enjoy all of the benefits that come from being active and outdoors,” adds Diggs. “This effort to restore access to trails couldn’t be better timed – now is when we all need a safe way to break away from everything and enjoy all that nature provides us.”
Diggs’ song also highlights the fact that Nature Valley’s impact is not over – the brand will double down on its original commitment, pledging to help restore access to another 10,000 miles of national park trails, through an additional $3 million donation.
By working with the NPF – for several years – Nature Valley is demonstrating its brand purpose to connect people to nature.

And that’s where we, as a National Park Foundation premier partner, can play a substantial role in keeping the parks accessible for future generations.”
For the trail restoration work – in 19 national parks across 16 states – the NPF supported projects led by service corps crews working on the ground in each impacted park. The crews’ work included removing invasive species, clearing corridors, repairing structures, building boardwalks and managing other projects that helped restore greater accessibility within iconic and beloved national parks.
